     That can also mean you have text messages, mms, pin, reminders like, calender, followup flags, tasks and voice mail, It does on my Blackberry curve 8530 (same as yours except it uses cdma instead of gsm hardware technology)
     Go to the sound app icon upper top left corner click menu key on keypad and under sound profile and scroll down to set ring tones/alerts etc change those may stop that annoyance....I have not done so on mine as it does not bother me, I like the flashing red light cuz it alerts me to check my stuff, helping me not to forget etc.

   "flashlight" on blackberry curve wont turn off?
   I have a blackberry curve and starting today the light on the back of the phone also used as the flash for the camera or used as a flashlight for the phone will NOT turn off. I have tried turning the flash off of the camera (going to options), taking the battery out for a few minutes and turning my phone back on and also going to the options for screen/keyboard and adjusting everything there and the light will still not turn off. Does anyone know how to fix this problem??? Because it is KILLING my battery!!! Please give my solutions not suggestions IE: buy another phone, or take it back blah blah blah

     Hi

     It appears that the light is stuck. Before taking it back, I would recommend in taking it to the store, there could be a setting that your not seeing. Usually the settings that you were on should have fixed it.

     The other solution is to hard wipe/scrub the device. This should restore your Blackberry. This option will also erase everything on your Blackberry so beware.

   How can I make my BlackBerry's light flash different colours?
   I downloaded a free flashlight app for my BlackBerry Curve. The app has like 6 or 7 different light settings, pink, blue, purple etc. The little light on the top right of my BlackBerry changes colours accordingly.

   But, I would like to make my phone flash those colours when I receive messages, bbms, and whatnot. Do I need a special app for that, or is the option already on my phone?

     The option only ever existed on the 8100 to make the trackball flash different colours.

     It is not an option on the phone to make the led flash anything execpt red for a new message, blue for bluetooth connectivety, and yellow for low battery.

     If it can happen, then it's a 3rd party app not included with your BlackBerry.

     You may need to replace the device. Even though other things are working properly, something is obviously wrong with the LCD. You could also try replacing the LCD screen.

   HELP! Blackberry Curve 8300 can't get signal?
   Several months ago I noticed one day that my blackberry was playing up. The flashlight at the back was on constantly for no apparent reason and I couldn't turn it off, and I couldn't get any signal. My parents have ignored my pleas to take it to a repairer and I am wondering if there is a way to fix it?!

   I need a smartphone which suits better for me to handle my life. previously i use nokia n80. i got used to it. its calendar features is easy, and neat to use. i can watch my incoming or on going events on the home screen without the need for me to specifically to open the calendar application.

   now im using iphone 4, but problem is it is over reliant on me to open the calendar application and check it manually. the alarm is only 1 time. when i unlock the phone, it is not notified anymore. i tend to forgot the current on going event unless i need to open this calendar to check. the home screen is basically not there. the lock screen is only for wallpaper. and nothing more. i have tried to look into afew calendar application in appstore, but failed to find any that suit my needs. it still needs to manually open to check. if there is any apps i missed out that do have these features i wanted, please enlighten me. to add on, the miss call, sms and email notification offered by iphone is quite poor. it only notified me once. once i unlock the phone without reading these sms or email, i wouldnt know there is new sms or email anymore. i need to unlock the phone when i feel like it and then i will realize there is un open sms or email. it is different from nokia where sometimes i just get my phone to check the clock, and i can see the new sms or misscall icon on the lockscreen.

   but as i really need this features, thats why im considering to drop this iphone for a smartphone(touch screen preferably) that can suit my needs. so, is there any suggestion for a smartphone that have this features? i know nokia have this. but i prefer for any other brand than nokia. what i need is sms, email, calendar(as stated above), call, internet browsing and social networking(fb, ym, and such). what i dont really mind if these features is good or not is camera, mp3, video recording and games.

     Mate, Samsung Galaxy S II is a phone that I recommend. The touchscreen is pretty much as responsive as the one on iPhone's and it's quite smooth (but you might get a few small lags, but it's not very noticeable compared to the X6 and etc. which you can instantly see).

     The Galaxy S II have widgets and I'm pretty sure there's a calendar widget so you only have to go through the home screen to see the events (if not, you can download calender widgets from Android Market). Also, unlike the iPhone, there's a notification bar at the top which shows you the latest un-opened SMS, emails and etc. and then you can pull it down to see more info on it.

     Internet browsing is a bit better than iPhone's due to the larger display and you get more of a desktop like experience because of Adobe Flash Player. It is capable of handling Social Networking services as there are apps for those.

   I'm stuck debating between the iPhone 4 and Blackberry Torch.
   I've been looking at reviews and comparisons of both phones but I just can't seem to figure out which is better for me.
   I'm an avid texter and the physical keyboard and touch keyboards on the Blackberry sound perfect.
   But, I don't have an ipod touch like every other teenager on the planet nowadays. So would that be the better deal with all the apps I can get?

     One of the biggest advantages the iPhone 4 has over the Torch is in display quality. The Torch has a 480 x 360 pixel resolution, which is actually last-gen technology that most new smartphones on the market exceed. The iPhone 4 takes it a step further with the highest-resolution display in a smartphone: 960 x 640 pixel resolution. This Retina Display technology in the iPhone renders images much sharper than those found in any phone, let alone the Torch.

     To top it all off, the iPhone 4 A4 processor is also significantly more powerful than the one in the BlackBerry Torch, making the iPhone 4 more snappy and responsive.

     While the new BlackBerry Torch does wonders for bringing the BlackBerry line up to date with current smartphone technology, it also doesn't do anything to make the Torch stand out. It brings BlackBerry up to the general level of the competition, but no further.      In my opinion it hides very easily. I have the Curve 8530 which is about the size of a deck of cards. You can check out the link below to view the size of mine in comparison to a deck of cards, MP3 player as well as a pad of yellow sticky notes to give you an idea. But I tend to carry mine in my pocket quite frequently and its hardly noticeable at all. So a simple switch of the sound profile to silent while its in your pocket will keep anyone from knowing you have it.
